    Bird Nerd Wanna Be

I went looking for a Great Grey Owl again yesterday, but I had no luck. So, I ventured to the river in search of some eagles. I wasn't dissapointed. This one sat and let me shoot him for quit a while. Exposure was a bit tricky with a bright sky in the BG and a dark bird with a white head as a subject. I wan't happy with any of the shots I took yesterday, but these are the 4 that I am the least unhappy with.

    Thought/comments?

    Michael:
For some reason, I like the shot, top right better. It just seems a tad sharper than the rest. Oh, I know, the branches are sometimes considered taboo, but I think they work here. It shows the bird in its natural habitat and adds to the special nature of the shot. You certainly nailed the exposure in a very difficult situation. Excellent, excellent job!

Bald eagles are here in Houston, but I've never seen one. I have bird envy.

That's a very nice series. I especially like the first. I can appreciate the tough exposure. Did you spot meter, or bracket, or ...?

Thanks for the comments Tim. I braketed to get the exposure for this guy, as the DRebel doesn't have a spot meeter function on it. At least not that I know of. That is something I will be sure to get when it comes time to upgrade my system.

Terrific job Mike. I would have been shaking so much that even the IS wouldn't have helped.
