    Arizona Sunset/Moonrise

The reflection of the clouds on the water caught my eye in the sunset scene, then I turned 180 degrees and captured the rising moon. Landscapes are not something I've done a lot of, so I welcome your critiques.

Where in Az are you visiting (I'm actually visiting in Tucson atm)? I do find polarizers to be extremely helpful with the desert and sky.

    Re: Arizona Sunset/Moonrise

I took these near Chandler a few weeks ago. Made a mid-day trip up to Saguaro Lake, and have it on my list to return to next spring when I go back...I was blown away by the photo-ops that landscape presents. As I was on business, I had packed light so didn't have much extra equipment on hand. My tripod and filters will be coming with me in the spring!

In the first shot the reflection in the water are more interesting than the clouds in the sky, maybe you could try cropping half the sky, this would emphasise the water. Still its a nice shot as is the moon pic.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

First one the horizon seems almost in the middle of the shot. I agree with taking more of the lake than the sky in this case. Also, it looks like you had some vegetation you might have been able to take advantage of in the foreground of the shot. Foreground stuff in both shots seem to be extraneous and blurry which takes from the shot a little. Otherwise I like the colors reflecting on the lake.

Colors in the second shot feel right for a desert scene as well! I also like the placement of the moon and the Saguaro.

    Re: Arizona Sunset/Moonrise

Thanks for the comments. I may try a crop of the sky and see how it looks. As much as I would have liked to have the foreground foliage in focus, I didn't have a tripod on this trip and wouldn't have been able to hold the camera still enough for the SS that would have been required, and there wasn't any good aspect that would have allowed me to avoid getting some of it in the frame.
