Moonrise at Sunset on Winter Creek

A before and after of a scene that I've looked at long enough ! ! This was a fairly quick edit, about 15 minutes of total work. Part of a study of this creek under various lighting situations.

    Comments and critiques welcome!

    Thanks

Very nice, D. I am guessing the first one is the original. I hope so at least because the 2nd is my fav of the two. Much better detail and sharpness and color in it. Love the moon hanging up there.

I like your composition. The tone in the grass and in the water are pretty. The fact that you cloned out the power lines is a major plus. It seems that the water was a little over sharpened tough.

Drg -- I like how you removed the lines - very impressive, esp with only 15 min of work.

My immediate reaction to the photo was one of disappoinment: I expected a nice twilight shot or something I guess, due to the title. I suppose that the moon just doesnt have the same effect one the sky gets lit up to a certain point (to me, anyways).

I did a slight adjustment just to see... I am not convinced that it is easy to convert such a shot to a twilight one however. Maybe you can take a stab?

It is at the golden hour of light where the sun starts to turn everything that soft yellow color. By twilight the creek was way to dark to get much more than some reflections. The moon by that point also was too high in the sky to make much of a composition.

Thanks! The power lines took most of the time. The sharpening was a little touchy when I resized the photo.I'm trying some new settings and parameters. Glad you noticed and I'll 'tweak' that parameter next time.

Yes, the first is before and the second is after. I'm glad you liked the 'moon' shot!

The second shot , of course, with the great job at removing the lines, should be the keeper. Great looking scene with the moon above. Nice editing

Nice shot and edit. It's a peacfull scene. like the way you framed the curve of the creek, the moon is a bonus.
