    Re: Architechtural Shots

I like the brick one, but I think the contrast could be reduced. The top photo has way too much contrast for my tastes. That sometimes works, if the shape is really interesting but the building isn't all that. Architectural shots are pretty hit or miss. Keep shooting, but maybe try for some people in them to spice it up.

Interesting shots. Very nice subjects, though I'm not very fond of the harsh, black color in the second pic, how it goes from the nice, white of the building to the black. Great subjects, and definately great potential.

Interesting angles. Too contrasty on the window pic. The tree shadows help add interest in this example. Some more detail in the bricks may be the way to go. You shot from slightly off center on this one but not enough to make it look intentional.
I am ambivalent about the top pic.
One of the basic concepts in mechanical engineering is
    make it backwards?
After you have made it as good as you can possibly design it. Start over and engineer is exactly backwards.
I find that works in photography also. Work your buns off to make a great photo. Then, do just the opposite treatment. You will usually wind up doing another version somewhere between the two.

NIce shots. I like the strong perspective. I'd like to see the angle more definate (more dynamic) or else lined up with edge of the frame. Having it just slightly of is bothersome to me.

    Re: Architechtural Shots

Gotta agree with Chunk - both pictures need to have the angles fixed...I would say to line it up with the edge, but thats just my taste.

The first picture does not really have much interest - although I can appreciate for what it is.
I really like the second Picture...I gotta disagree with everyone and say I love the contrast. Not too much for my taste The shadow of the tree does a lot to give interest and I like the shadows around the window. Nice perspective on the shot also. Really nice architectural shot!

    Cheers

    Brick and Sky

I am very amazed that my architechtural shots could cause such an outpouring of opinion. As a small note on the second shot, I used a deep red filter. I thought the added contrast between the building and the sky would be nice, as well as making the brick come out light instead of dark like it normally does. I did a little sharpening to bring out the texture, and straightened it too.

    Re: Architechtural Shots

The second photo is definetely the better of the two. It's almost abstract because it seems to focus more on shape than anything else. I wish the first photo wasn't included with the second because it's detracting from it.
