    Ants at Work

I am afraid I went a little tight on this. I was trying to emphsize the ants at work, but I may have ruined the image of the flower. What do you think? D70 and 105 f2.8

Reminds me of an ant's version of a theme park(think waterslides) lol

ants are amazing...i think the flower was abit sacrificed but I think the ants/their activity are clearly(to me ) the focus...I just would have liked to see them all a bit more in focus...

you should compile a "bugs at work" book...

    lol...
i scrolled down and to my surprise, there is that beautiful yellow flower that i loved so much in your other post... and there are ****ANTZ*** all over it!
It kinda shocked me, I don't know why....
anyway, I have to say that (for me) I find this to be a very Unique photo, as I have never seen anything similar.

I really like it, and would like to suggest a clone to the top right hand side fuzzy ant... as it sorta pulls me out of the frame, and with it gone, the others will appear more in focus.

I too like this image. Flower pictures are done all the time but this one is unique. I like the contrast between the serenity of the flower and the business of the ants. It is kind of like a birds eye view of the expressway around a big city. My only suggestion would be to burn in the lower left hand corner.

    Re: Ants at Work

OldTimer, I think I will have to be the lone viewer that feels that although it is an unusual shot to see ants on a flowwer as that, the image is suffering from flat lighting, lack of sharpness needed for a shot of this close focus, and perhaps a slightly too tight crop in as you had mentioned. or maybe this shot just isn't for me. Clickers suggestion about ridding of the blurry ant on top does help focus a little better on the rest.

i like it, i think it just could use a bit more DOF, butr thats just my opinion, but that would make it hard to freeze the ants huh!

    Re: Ants at Work

Thanks to all. Some good suggestions. I appreciate the attention to this photograph, one that I realize may not be my best effort, and that is the reason it is on this forum. I think getting rid of that top ant may help as much as anything with this shot, but I can't do a thing about the crop it is full frame. I was really trying to get those ants and just didn't make it. Oh and Clicker if you look real close at the other image on viewfinder you'll find some ants too.

I just realised looking at this shot again that DOF aint the problem.

Its how quickly the ants are running around isnt it!
    opps.
