Here are two shots that I like from a recent shoot-out that I attended. Your thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

The B&W is of a model named TJ. We wanted to go for an Ol' Americana feel to it.

The other shot is of Courtney. A young model with alot of untapped potential (She is only 13), we wanted to get something besides a smile.

The lightning is good and i think you have cropped it just right .
Beautiful girl , i am sure she will do well in the model world .

Hey Army

The first one I feel could use a slightly wider crop with a little more light in the eyes. The background is a little bright, competing for my attention with her face but that's a little easier to overlook.

The second one is very sexy, in my opinion, I think you've captured the essence of "lonely American girl" very well. It looks like you've shot some fill flash into the foreground to illuminate her and the decking, if so I say bravo, once again your lighting is perfect! Other than that, I'd say raise your camera up to show more of the environment. It has a great setting. I think if this were my shoot and I were looking to create an emotion in my viewer I would shoot closer with a wide angle and her looking off into the distance to further the feeling I get from this image. Well done all the way around on both.

I like the second pic alot. The composition makes good use of lines, which are simple and effective.

The lighting on the top picture is awsome, the shading on her face from her hair is realy awsome looking

I think these are both great shots, she's obviously a very pretty girl, but you are really getting that across in the shots, which isn't as easy as you'd think, even when the subject is great. I'd try a slightly different crop on that second shot/ With the bottom of the picture, although I can see why you choose to get the whole of that supporting strut in on the far left of the step, personally I would cut it out and crop at the point where the step itself goes out of frame just to lose a bit of the dead ground at the bottom of the image. Also (and I'm really picking hairs here) on the far left of the shot halfway up is a black 'cube' of something which goes out of frame. I would try to lose that, as it is attracting my attention when it should really be on the girl and the scenery.

The interlacing horizontal and vertical lines of the fences really sets this off. My only other alteration would be perhaps to crop slightly higher - I'd like that top left diagonal to complet the 'frame' it would make with the vertical strut, not sure why, it just seems to me that that would feel right! These are really insignificant points though!

I like both photo's a lot - the first one is realy outstanding -- the second, perhaps I'd crop a bit more, but that's just personal taste. Very nice work.

I really like the first picture the best. The second one could benefit from a bit more cropping (i'm big on seeing people's faces/expressions). You could try the first one with reflector to shine some light on her eyes and the other side, but not too close, as you still want some shadows to play on her face.
