    what'd you do last night?

last two weeks have been nuts. so last night, i watched X-men 2 and 3, and munched on peanut butter cups.

non-stop excitement, I know. but a much needed night in.
    I sleep, but I don't rest.

I sat in the shade outside and read a book or part of it anyway.

Re: what'd you do last night?

Amy and I went out for supper. They sat us in a small, closed in room full of kids. We had to wait for one kid to stop screaming so the waitress could hear our order. We had to shout across the table in order to talk to each other. When the waitress brought me my order, it was wrong... At that point I didn't care. I told her to leave it. No way I was sitting there and waiting for them to remake it...

After that we went to The Moving Wall. The traveling 1/2 replica of the Vietnam War Memorial. You can see some pics from it here.

Re: what'd you do last night?

We packed and packed and crap... where's the camp stove? And then packed, cleaned hamster cages, cleaned litter boxes... wait, did you find the cooler??? No, I didn't find it, I thought you did! Then packed, and then passed out

And then in the morning we packed some more, loaded the car, found stuff we couldn't find the night before, loaded the cooler, finally got on the road only to realize an hour away we forgot our ground cloth and tarp (arrrrrrgggghhhh), so we stopped in Lexington later at a Dick's and bought two new ones.

Then as it's getting dark in the mountains of Tennessee we end up in a hell of a storm and can't see where we're going. Since it was already late enough that we knew we weren't going to set up camp tonight, we found the nearest motel and are now laying about, having a dinner of cheese and crackers

Smokies in the morning! Probably won't have internet access after this till I get home, when I'll be posting pictures like mad

Last night I unloaded the kayak and camping gear when I got home. Then I loaded the bike gear for a ride tonight. Life is good...

Waited for the shuttle not to launch.
    It may not launch tonight.
Clouds may be too low on the return to launch site 'strip.

Went for a bicycle ride (1st time in 2 years), then took the dogs for a walk. After that, relaxed and watch "Wild Pacific" on the Discovery Channel.

    Listened to the firework display

Yesterday was Bastille Day (14th July) and also the 120th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower. The firework display at the tower was supposed to be something special. But - I hesitated. This really attracts a lot of people and I don't like it when I can't move around.

Finally I decided I wanted to go - and realised it was starting in 30 minutes. Too short a time to get anywhere close.

So I just listened to it through the open window. Gosh that's really stupid..

Finished installing a buried fence in the back yard for the dogs. Watched Ocean's 12, then went to bed. Woke up at 2 am because of very loud thunder. Closed some windows because the rain was coming in, then went back to bed.

Put my old card table up in the yard, pulled out all my camera gear finding things I'd totally forgotten I had, sorted, cleaned, managed to get one body, four lenses and assorted other stuff into one bag and the unlikely to use stuff into another.
But I can't find my rocket blower! Has anybody seen it?

Got all determined to go ride my Triumph and start breaking in my new tire, looked outside, realized the pavement was still wet, climbed in bed and continued my re-read of A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin. (Note: I am a very inexperienced street rider. Pavement feels soo different than dirt.)

Canon G9 that another member had for sale. I have wanted one for a while. Something small, yet powerful to take when I don't want to carry my DSLR.
