The majority of people who go to Starbucks aren't getting plain coffee. They are going for some caramel sprinkly lowfat whipped cream mocha chino drink.

However. Starbucks has done wonders for the coffee business. I doubt there would be as many coffee drinkers or independant coffee shops if not for Starbucks.
