Rick...don't read until after you watch tonight...hehe...After tonight, if Katherine stays...it'll be a miracle...but tomorrow will tell...I think it will be Chris, Taylor, Elliot next week... and I think that will be the way the finish as well. I think Chris and Elliot have probably grown the most in the competition. However, as we've learned in the past...it's all up in the air until "America Votes"!!!

If you are saying Elliot will win with Taylor in the top 2.... I surely hope not. Elliot may have a voice, but it hurts my ears to listen to him. He never changes at all, does he have range to you? I only know what I find enjoyable and that guy and Katherine aren't enjoyable.

BTW... When Paris releases an album , somebody let me know ;) I am sure Tommy Mottola already gave Chris his card for a record deal if he doesn't win.

I don't like Elliott's voice either. BUT, we had to admit he really did do very well this week. I think Kat wrote her ticket home tonight. As I've said before, she has so much potential, but can't seem to settle down.

I must say, this is the first week that I can say Taylor actually could deserve to win the whole thing. Until tonight, I thought very poorly of his voice. Tonight he really impressed me. I can finally say that if Taylor won, I would feel justice has been done. He seems to be a deserving guy.

After I remembered that they are "1-866, not 1-800 numbers..." (thanks Ryan) I voted for Chris and Taylor, though I'm sure they are safe. I'm not sure America will send Katherine home. They seem to vote for the underdog sometimes out of sympathy.

We'll see!

No Paul, I was saying "Chris should probably take it all, then Taylor a close second". Depending on his fan base, I think Elliot could sneak in to the top 2, but I don't think he has what it takes to win it all.

I have been reading this thread with lots of amusement. American Idol has bigger numbers this year than in any other year. That tells me that the group of people here are not representative of the general public. Next year, Idol will be even bigger.

This is a well crafted audience participation game show, not a real search for "talent", a very subjective determination.. But hey, Kelly Clarkson has done extremely well as has last year's winner Carrie Underwood. The others? I personally haven't heard from them (but maybe they have done something too). But so what?! Even two out of five is pretty good for this type of show.

Hi Michael, Yeah, we all know it's just a television show and this thread is all about having fun. Actually, just about all of the finalists are doing ok for themselves and many of the runner ups as well. As a musician, I fully understand that this is not a talent show as I've mentioned before. It's a popularity contest, otherwise, America wouldn't get a vote.
I for one cannot fathom how many of our #1 groups ever got a recording contract much less became so popular. It's amazing what a great sound engineer can do with cut and pasting. Marketing is another key to making an idol. Just look at the oriental dude who became so popular and couldn't sing a note in tune if his life depended on it. hehe...
Anyway, yes, we have our opinions and if we were representative of America, then there would be no reason to vote, they'd just get on here and ask us. hahaha...now wouldn't that be great...Final 2...Big Mama Mandissa vs Sweet and innocent Parris with the final show being a 4 hour "Battle of the Top 2"!!!! OOOOO Great Idea...maybe I'll send it to my hero...Simon Cowell...hehe...but we'd have to get rid of Ryan and I'm sure we could get a much better sex symbol than Paula Abdul...And maybe we get Snoop Dawg to replace Randy...and I just had a great idea...we get the oriental dude to replace Ryan!!!!!!

The reason your aforementioned three constestants are not in the top 3 is that this is indeed a singing contest. Not a rock show (Chris [who fell out of the alternative rocker copycat tree and hit every branch on the way down]), an R&B constest (Mandisa), or an R&B/annoying person contest (Paris). Honestly, I was quite surprised about Chris. My cat sings better than Kat. (hehehehe) But Taylor and Elliot (less so) deserve to be there. They have shown a vocal talent that is not just centered on their ability to turn one written note into 86 different "soulful" (read: I can't carry a tune so I'll sound like Whitney) pitches.
