An intense weekend of shooting - Some samples

    Hi all,

Put on a lot of miles, and took a lot of shots this weekend. Here are some of the samples, but there are tons more. I had targeted a couple endangered species this weekend, and got one of them (Florida Scrub Jay). Most of these were just "there", so I shot them as opportunity shots. Enjoy!

Florida Scrub Jay - an endangered species.

    Kingfisher with fish.

Smooth Billed Ani - A fairly unusual bird that is hard to find. Not sure if endangered or not.

A little something for Paul - Wild Iguana (pretty big too!)

I must say that I've never been able to get that close to an eastern meadowlark - and it hasn't been for a lack of trying!

That Ani is a cool looking bird - looks like it is straight out of some tropical rainforest.

I've never been able to get close enough to the meadowlarks either.....but this was shot with the 600mm

Close? Who needs it All of these were shot with the 600. Some were even hand held!

Remember, I too shoot with a 600mm nearly 80% of the time. Albeit with the 300mm+2x route

Even with my 1.6x crop factor APS-C sensor, I still have to crop in to get a decent size on the meadowlarks. Blasted meadowlarks

I hear ya Loupey! The only one I had the doubler on was the Crested Caracara shot. All the rest were just 600mm native. It's kinda like shooting macro from a distance. Getting used to the DOF is a challenge. Will be more fun once I get the feel.

Wow!!! Very nice Bob! The GBH photo almost looks like a painting. Its good to see you getting your moneys worth out of that 600mm:thumbsup:  I've posted pics of some Florida scrub jays here before. There is a nature walk close by where the scrub jays will swarm you looking for a hand out. Very tame!!

that lens certainly seems sharp enough, and contrasty enough. I'm looking forward to seeing your work once you are used to it!

If I had one criticism, it would be that none of these shots fit in my browser at 1280x1024 :cryin:

the original iguana is much better . Some excellent shots! If the bald eagle is shot in the wild excellent capture - a shot that someday I hope to at least get a chance at taking. If I get it then great if not at least I had the opportunity

The Bald Eagle is wild. He was on top of a telephone pole, so I went for the portrait shot instead of full body.
