    FALL 2010 Bird ID

    I couldn't find another fall thread.

    Big crop - good enough for an ID? Small hawk, nothern Illinois.

    I'm going to venture a guess as a Juvie Cooper's Hawk and wait for Paul's response to see if I was anywhere close :P

    I will second that based on the long tail and 4 strips across the tail.

    That's a very tough one, but I am leaning towards a juvi sharp-shinned hawk due to not seeing a orange cast to the crown of the head. Also location has alot more SS hawks than lower down in the 48

    I know the image isn't great...Thinking possibly a dark morph rough legged hawk??? I suppose it could be one of the many variations of an RTH, but haven't seen them this dark.

    Young redtailed hawk most easily distinglished from the roughlegged by the tail banding and no light area on the face.

    I shot this in the Florida Everglades.

    I think it is a Red Shouldered Hawk?

    Not really sure what this is. Looked in our books and I think our best guess was an Acadian fly-catcher. Shot in Houston, TX.
