Chasing the great blue heron (lots of photos)

Last time I went to the lake , there were no blue herons, this time I found one that would go back and forth between 2 spots and was able to try multiple shots, the darn thing would never go to the other side of the sun, but , hey , it really tried my photo skills

    1. we spotted each other

    2. off he goes , flew like 50m on the same walkway I was, the walkway goes into the lake, creates a small bay used for people to try out kayaks, or for kids to try out boats , keeps the waves to a decent size, and it is great as a view point closer to birds

    3. landed , got another shot with more direct sunlight

    4. flying back to the original spot

we repeated this 2 more times until I finally got the picture I liked

the whole time this other guy was watching his pal fly back and forth followed by truly yours

Your pictures are absolutely lovely, but I still think the great blue heron benefits from a press agent, since it rarely appears as blue, even when given every advantage thanks to the high quality camera and expertise you offer.

Egrets are always white, and you have either a snowy or cattle egret looking most charming. They get me confused, unlike the great egret with its long neck, similar to that of the great blue heron.

    Wonderful job.

Nice images. Herons are common around my home and compared with the other birds around here, they are quite majestic.

armando, great images of a very majestic bird. I had the opportunity back in November to spend some time in Florida and saw more GBHs than I could ever imagine. I am still processing the 500+ images I took in the two weeks we were there, and hopefully will have some available for posting in the next few weeks.

    Cheers,
