    Check out Eric Jordan.

As far as designed, I think this guy is the best. Visit his site and give me some feed back.

Go to his porfolio and check out all his work.

If you think there is a better designer out there, post up the link so I can view the site. Then we can vote on whos the best.

Well if you like Flash Websites, have a large screen, and plenty of Bandwidth, then this is the site for you to view.

Personally I find the colours muted, the flash is just way over the top for my liking, but I will wait and see what others think.

    Welcome to the forum.

there is no arguing: mr. jordon is very talented and knows his way around flash and actionscripting. is he the best? that's subject to opinion. however, he certainly did not create a perfect web site...

    1. poor readability caused by small text, over-use of animation, and poor color contrast.
    2. a 1024 fixed width layout will force many visitors with 800 screen resolution to scroll horizontally to see all the content--- another usability issue.
    3. back button doesn't work (flash mx allows developers to enable it, so apparently mr. jordon didn't get around to doing that). that's another usability problem.
    4. non-broadband users should just avoid this site. it will take forever to load. hey, let's ignore some potential customers!!
    5. what do floating animated mouses (i think) have to do with their business?
    6. there's more, but i'm done........

again, he is good, but not that good.

IMO, it's not even a question of good or not good...

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you, except to mention I have no problem with a niche or specialized target audience for an edgy site. There's no rule that says a site has to be all things (ie accessible or legible) to all people. Many are perfectly willing to lose vast amounts of viewers to reach a specific few.

As for Flash, I think he's as good as I've seen (of course I'm not constantly combing the web for cutting edge flash sites, so take that for what it's worth ;) ).

But as Peter mentions, Flash is not evryone's cup of tea, so while this site impresses me greatly on a certain level, it's not at all what I would want for myself, and I don't think it is automatically "better" than more static yet well designed non-flash sites.

What it comes down to are the different schools of site design, each with its own rules and elements that appeal to some and totally annoy others.

The designer here obviously likes web sites that resemble arcade video games, which to me gets old in a hurry, but (I'm guessing) is considered absolutely completely the coolest thing ever by a lot of viewers (anyone's guess? young males perhaps? )

Anyway, thanks for sharing the link Matt. I always enjoy seeing designers that push the envelope...

I like it, but I'm an "Ooh, shiny!" kind of gal.

As far as the bandwith, dimensions, etc., he stated up front that the site required broadband and a 1024x768 resolution - I only have a problem with sites that don't warn poor dial-up users that they're about to suck the life out of their connection.

As Steve says, they've got a target audience - they're designing flash for Ford, NHL, Oakley - that's who they need to impress, not Joe Schmoe on his Commodore 64.

Could they tone it down a bit? Probably, but it entertained me while I should have been working and I got some nifty new Winamp skins, and that's what really counts. Thanks for pointing this out Matt!

(ckozo - for what it's worth, I didn't get the mouse thing either.)
