    Question tripod

    Hi,
I'm a new member. I'm starting to get back into photography and am not a new photographer though I don't know much about the equipment. I'm uncertain of what type of tripod I should get. I like doing long exposures but my current tripod just doesn't do it. I am not looking for anything expensive, $90US/$100CAN. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks

Welcome! A Bogen/Manfrotto 3021 with a 3025 head may be a little bit above your budget but very solid and probably the best deal in the price range. My first tripod was actually bigger and heavier than this, but not as stable. Used ones sell for almost as much as new for a reason!

I actually just won a 3021 with 3025 head on eBay. I'm waiting for it to arrive now. I was doing my research because I was interested in getting a tripod, just like yourself. Go to the review section and you can see how people rate specific tripods. As far as price, my combo came out to about $150 Canadian, which includes shipping. I could've gotten a cheapo one from Future Shop (eg. Optex) for about $70, but I thought I'd just buy a tripod that would last.

Just wondering how you found the tripod. What type of head is the 3025 exactly?

Here's a kit with the 3001 legs and 3025 head. I typed 3021 but was actually thinking of the smaller, lighter 3001 legs. The 3021 is a good choice and a little sturdier, but also a little more expensive and heavier.

The 3025 head works like a typical pan head and is very sturdy.

I just typed in Bogen 3021 and it showed up. Most of the tripods on eBay have heads already and the 3025 seems to be pretty popular to come with the tripods. The 3025 is 3-way adjustable head, check it out here: http://www.bogenimaging.us/product/t...d=7&itemid=270
It isn't a quick release head though, if you were interested in that.

Manfrotto, 190D with 141RC head should meet the requirements you have. It is called Bogan in the USA, but I think that is changing slowly to conform with the rest of the world that refers to them as Manfrotto.
