I am keen to set up my back-up body (EOS 10D) as a remote camera to use at sporting events. It's primary home will be behind the goal net at football matches, although it may find its way into other spots too.
I am obviously considering Pocket Wizards (the 'Plus' version). I won't be using the units to trigger flashes - just to fire the remote camera.
The idea is to take pics like the one attached - for this shot, I knelt down behind the goal and pretended to be a remote camera! Sad, eh?
I've read plenty of techical info on the units - but if anyone has used Pocket Wizards with a 10D, I'd be very pleased to hear about your 'real world' experiences of them.
My main concerns are which cable to get to connect the camera up to the receiver (there seem to be many options - custom-made or otherwise), what kind of 'delay' there is in triggering the remote camera (if any) and keeping the camera 'awake' while shooting (battery consumption issues, etc).
