EVERYTHING in the Creative Suite has been upgraded to CS2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
~grrrrr!~
My only hope is that *maybe* they didn't process my order until today. I did order at 1:30 in the afternoon on Friday.
Of course my order is for 1.3, so I'm sure that's what they're going to send me.
*DANG*DANG*DANG*DANG*DANG!*
Give them a call Kelly and see if it's too late to cancel your order, or to upgrade it. I wonder what the academic price is going to be on the new version...

Kelly, I'd probably cancel it too. Even if they don't process the order until today, it won't be CS2 because the press release says it won't ship for awhile yet (was it May?) - in any case, not today.
As soon as it's released (or shortly after) there should be an academic version available. Just a guess, but if one store doesn't have it try another, maybe they're stuck with a bunch of versions of CS that they want to get rid of first.
Looks like CS2 has some new interesting features, but not anywhere near the upgrade of going from 7 to CS was (RAW converter, healing brush, more 16-bit features). I'm sure I'll upgrade but will probably wait a couple of months to see why these new tools are something I can't live without.

I just purchased a new computer and I want to put PS CS on it. I have Elements 2.0, and PS 5 and together they do ok. 5 has feartures that E2 doesn't, and vise versa and I hate having to go back and forth between the two. I really want to update to CS but the $650 price tage is pretty steep. I have found a downloadable version online for $80, but I don't know how legit it is. Everything looks ok, but they say that you can't register it with Adobe, or uses Adobe's services for the product. That doesn't seem like a big deal to me since I have never had to use their service for anything in the past. Anyonw know of where I can get a legit version of CS for a reasonable price?
Try newegg.com. I buy a lot of my software and hardware from them. Very good prices, quick shipping and processing, excellent selection. The upgrade for CS should work for PS versions 5 and higher.

Adobe Creative Suite Premier (Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, GoLive, Acrobat, and InDesign) ----- all for the grand low price of $199

Well, ok, I suppose it would be petty of me to be envious of someone else's good fortune. Especially someone so nice...
As someone who has spent (seemingly) huge amounts of money on Adobe products and upgrades over the past five years, I guess the closest I can come to matching your "deal" was the time I found a legit copy of Illustrator 8 at a flea market for $8. And it worked!

Re: Of course, you know we all hate you for this...
Thanks everyone.
First of all, the website clearly states "NO REFUNDS" in huge letters. So I bought it when I clicked the "submit" button.
I looked into the upgrade, but it's like $499, minus the $100 it's still lotsa money.
I'm wondering if they'll have an educational price on the upgrade.
Otherwise, I suppose I can look back in another couple months and see if they're offering the new version as an educational package for about the same price, which would still be less than the upgrade.
I just have to get it before I quit school.
And.... well, I've paid thousands of my own $$$ for tuition, so there's no need to feel *too* envious ...

Kelly, I have seen academic prices on upgrades before so you might be in luck there. I also emailed this particular company yesterday and asked them about CS2. They said that they should be posting the new package in a few days when they get the Academic Licensing aggreement info. They don't offer a pre-sale option so they may not post it until it's actually available.
My only concern is that the CS2 price will be too high, and by the time I find out, it will be too late to order the origianal... decisions decisions...

Michael, I suppose waiting is a risk, but I did see closeouts for sale on that website, so maybe even after they offer CS2 they might somehow have a closeout...but probably only if they actually own inventory. Not sure how licensing works.
Speaking of which, how does Academic Licensing work? Are there any features I don't get?
I know there's not a limit to the license as far as time goes. I still own it after I quit school.

The only difference is that it says Educational Version on the start-up screen. I don't know if it still will after I upgrade because I bought the educational version of CS. The only catch is that you have to be a student to be able to buy it.
I went to a workshop a year ago that was a week long, and held at a university. Someone made the official decision that since we were there, we were college students for that week and able to buy educational software at the discounted prices. So you can get a little creative... Or take a continuing education class at a community college, that should do it too.
