I just bought a used Benbo tripod with a nice Bogen head. However the tripod didn't include a manual and I'm trying to figure out the right way to thread the various washers onto the "bent bolt" that holds the tripod together.

Does anyone here have a manual, tips, suggestions? Is it easy to turn around the center column so the 3/8" screw is on top? Also is it normal for the paint to rub and flake off where the joints come together?

Overall I'm happy with the clever design and how it will help me with table/floor photos for auction postings. But some stuff like the paint flaking in places make me understand why people sometimes make assumptions if they hear something was made in England (instead of Germany or Japan).
