Use A Cam Wireless Mike? I Need Your Help!

I have a Sony DCR VX2000 and just bought the Sony WCS999 wireless mike system. The receiver has a short cord to be plugged into the cam but there is no obvious way to mount the receiver anywhere. It can't just hang. Please help this newbie and let me know how you secure your receiver to the cam or tripod or wherever. The cord is too short to carry in the cam operator's pocket.

In the past I have used small bungie cords to attach to the top of the carry handle or the bottom of the camera if there isn't anything like a tripod on the bottom.
