anyone experienced w/ those? hasselblad, mamya, bronica .. w/digital backs. how do they compare to "35mm" digital? the point is: the top "35" are top $$. should i go straight to the ultra $ medium format? btw, i'm pro, working w/ people. i use a D100 and like it except it's buffer (?) stops me from shooting no stop on raw...

I have a Mamiya 645AFD and haven't gone digital with it (I have a D100 too) for two reasons:
1) Cost - $6k is a lot for my hobby
2) I think right now they only support MAC's so I would have to get another PC

I would love to have one though!

They all support PCs. In a few cases, only PCs right now.

i just read the reviews that you guys linked me. thanks. it seems medium format is superior, as usual but an unusually ultra expensive ride. it's not $6000... but $12000 for a digital back and if you want the nec plus ultra of 22mb files open your wallet to the happy sum of $30000. how is it to develop a roll of film again?

Roll film development (colour)

You just take your roll film down to your usual lab and they send it off somewhere and you get it back a week later.

Roll film development (black & white)

You take your Paterson 35mm spirals and rack them out to their widest and then in your 1 litre tank you develop 2x120 films instead of 3x135 films

Scanning

Put 3 frames of your Provia 100F 120 film on your Epson 3200 Photo flatbed scanner and scan at 3200dpi. You have a 5000x5000 pixel image with no grain (because the scanner can't quite resolve Provia grain).

Or... Pay the money once. Take photos. Move to computer. There you are immediately.

The price seems high but pros can make that back easily even ignoring the tax breaks they get for equipment costs.
