Hello! I am also looking for a fast lens for my Canon 20d.
I have the 18-55 kit lens, capable of a WHOPPINGly unremarkable 3.5 f.stop. Which is about as handy as a kick in the teeth in low light conditions, especially if you intend to zoom in at all.
IS there such thing as a fast lens (at least 1.8) that I could use for portraits and macros, or are they mutually exclusive? This is my criteria (in order of priority) for a lens, any help would be ...so, very appreciated. (maybe you can kill two birds with one stone here? -Me and Genko)

-Compatible with Canon EOS 20D
-Must be FAST (1.8 or faster)
-Auto focus
-For portrait photography
-For macro photography

Budget is up to about £200 / $300 I guess. (There seems to be loads of choice for way under that doesn't there?)
