    Digitalmemory card question

Hello, I have a question about digital memory. I just bought a Canon SD300 which uses SD memory. I also just bought a PQI 1GB 45X SD card for it. I want to use the continuous shooting mode and movie mode, so should i return the 45x and get a 60x card? Is there a noticable difference between a 45x and 60x? Also, with both speeds, about how long may it take for each picture to be processed and saved in continuous shooting mode?

    thanks a lot!

    Re: Digitalmemory card question

Most compact digital cameras aren't able to take advantage of high-speed memory cards. The biggest factors in compact camera speed are the buffer and the pipeline to the card, not the card itself. For that reason I wouldn't bother buying a faster card. However, if you do get your hands on a card without actually paying for it, and find out that it is faster, then please let us know. The general experience has been that there's no point in buying high-speed cards for compact digitals, though.

Well theoretically, 45x is roughly 6.5 megabytes/sec data transfer. According to DPReview's review, the sd300 is capable of about 4+ mb/sec transfer, so based on that, I'd say stick with the 45x card for now. Of course, downloading from the card through a firewire or usb 2.0 reader to the pc might be different, but I doubt you'll notice the difference there.
