Mixed up some chemistry today, and decided to develop some film. Earlier this summer I bought a box of antique cameras that I hope to have in a display case some day. While going thru them, I found an exposed roll of 620 Kodak Verichrome Pan in one of the cameras. Along with the Verichrome Pan was an unopened box of Kodacolor-X. The expiration date on the Kodacolor was Sep 1971. I was pretty excited to see what, if anything was on this old roll. Could it be a shot of the guy on the grassy knowl, or maybe someone having a family picnic?

What a pain in the a$$. It took me well over an hour to get that damn film on the reel. After being wrapped around that little spool for the last 40 years, I guess it didn't want to straighten out very well. I didn't even get it all to go on the reel.. Once I got it started, it was going on fine, then something happened and it wouldn't go on anymore. I kinda forced in on the best I could and said screw it. I was sick of messing with it long before I got this far. I threw it in the tank, and developed it using D-76.

When I finally took it out of the tank, I was a little surprised that I actually had some images on the film. There are only 3 or 4 frames that have anything recognizable on them, but you can tell what they are. A shot of an old TV, and some people sitting on a couch. I guess I ruined the grassy knowl photos. :) Oh well, it was fun, but a pain in the butt. I hope the newer film goes on the reels easier.

I will try to get the film scanned at work this week.

Very cool Michael :) I'm curious to see what end up coming for shots on the roll. What did you end up getting for cameras in the lot? Whatever ended up happening with the rolls of 120 you were going to bring to Walmart? They able to get them developed?

The box of cameras had a bunch of stuff in it. Some old box cameras, and a bunch of other MF stuff in it. It's been a while since I looked at them so I don't know for sure. I don't know if any of them work or not. From what I remember, most of them take 620 film. I will pull them all out and take a group photo one of these days.

I haven't been back to walmart to pick up that roll of film yet. I have to stop in tomorrow to get a new battery for my AE-1. I will see if it's back yet.

A roll of film in an old camera can bring back memories and be very exciting but it still just can't compare with a roll in the hay! AHHH bringing back memories of a different kind, LOL grandpaw
