Wow, my grandmother is completely devastated

<- This is her in the picture. She's the Hawaiian VP of the Pan-Pacific and South-East Asia Women's Association - I totally forgot about that. She said she's lost over 500 friends that she has made over the past several years that she's been involved in that group. She's been working all these years, raising money to help people over there and this happens.

Oh, how difficult that has to be. I'm so glad you posted this information about your grandmother. I will pray for her. Where does she live? Is she in touch with any of the people that she knew?

She lives in Hawaii. She's 92 now, so I get a little worried about my grandparents - they are total globe trotters and have been around the world several times now, so they have quite the international list of friends. She said she's witnessed more international tragedies in her lifetime than she could have ever imagined. It's hard to fathom the amount of history, both bad and good, that people see in their lifetime, isn't it?

That's the other edge of the sword, isn't it?

This is the obvious downside of reaching into other people's lives. The more people you embrace and enjoy the experiences of knowing and sharing with, the more likely you will be touched by any misfortune and tragedy that befalls them.

Thanks for putting a very personal face on this horrific event...
