Oh my, what negative energy. I'm not a Nikon elitist, mind you. I'm a Nikon Samurai. I also readily acknowledge that there are other camera's out there (though why anyone would want to use one of those is beyond me!), and that they are quite capable of producing "decent" images. ;-)

I have indeed made mention that it is the photographer, not the lightbox he or she uses, that makes great images. For instance, in a previous post I said the following regarding Paul's switch to the dark side (Canon):

"He is also living proof that it's the photographer, not the camera, that makes the image."

And Paul admitted that he will never sell his Nikon's! Proof that even the dark side acknowledges fine craftmanship.

    Thanks for chiming in Trevor!

It's damn near right in the middle of the country, so easier for everyone to get to, has incredible scenery, and most important, I wouldn't have to go anywhere!! ;) ;)
Only thing is, Paul would have to allowed to participate if he so choosed. He could named a temporary Samurai for the trip and he "accidently" brought the wrong equipment. ;)

Seriously though, Utah would be great too.

    A female samurai? I don't think so...

Now ladies, I can assure you that there's not a sexist bone on my body, but simply reflecting on the thinking of the time in feudal Japan, I can tell you they would not have been too thrilled with the idea of a female samurai.

How 'bout we make the gals Nikon Geishas???

Lone Tree is actually a far southern suburb on the outskirts of the Denver Metro area. Now, this is a little complicated, but we do not actually live in Lone Tree, we live in unincorporated Douglas County (like I said, far outskirts), between Parker, CO. and Lone Tree. We have an Englewood mailing address, which is hilarious, because we are nowhere near Englewood.
As far as where you were, we were close, we live about 50 miles or so to the north of Colorado Springs, and about 10 miles north of Castle Rock.
So since we are closer to Lone Tree than anywhere else, that's what I put down. Sounds better than "unincorporated Douglas County".
Sorry for the long-winded response, and I hope it wasn't confusing.
    Regards,
    Brian

Nope. I'm no chauvinist. If it had been up to me, there would have been MANY female samurai. After all, I feel anything a man can do...

Hey, if I'm guilty of anything, it's simply not knowing 11th century Japanese history. And for that I think I can be forgiven...

Maybe we could have an "Un Gathering", where we do all the stuff that would happen at an actual gathering, a photo exchange and a t shirt one.

    I'd be up for that.

The only stipulation would be that the photograph to be exchanged must be taken with a Nikon.

What do you say my fellow Samurais!

    Rick

    Of course Nikon is better!

I was merely acknowledging that it is possible to take photo's with other brands. I also mentioned that I couldn't imagine why anyone would want to do that! I guess it was PC of me, to not state that using another brand was handicapping the user. ;-)

I could be anti-PC by pointing out that Paul learned how-to with Nikon gear! :-D

Then he switched to the dark side.
