Very nice! My kids think I'm joking, but their first cars will probably be Smarts.

I'd drive it... looks like it's got a little more trunk space than the standard smart car...

They've just started importing them in to the US. You can't get better gas mileage for the $$.

Great car! Just curious, do you know the HP, 0-60, and skidpad specs? Hmmm, it's getting close to trade in time on my car

    Re: the wombatmobile

    I'm looking for a diesel.
Daimler Chrysler UK never produced a RHD model, and never imported LHD.
So I have to get it from Europe.

The US is getting mostly the new ForTwo model 451, with the larger capacity normally aspirated engines instead of the Mercedes turbo engines. That model this year is slightly lengthened with a larger boot space. Not that you need it, really.
We could fit a wheelchair in my old ForTwo cabrio boot. But not much shopping with it.
Or lots of shopping (one day an air conditioner) and no wheelchair.

You have to be really big to be too big for a Smart.

The Roadster Coupe was proposed as a US model, fitted with rear discs and redesigned body panels and interior. But it never took off. I'd have bought that one.

    80HP, 0-60 11 secs (without remap)
    110HP, 0-60 8 secs (remapped)

Unfortunately this model ceased production in 2006.
The Dodge version never made it past the prototype stage.

Yeah, turbocharged, I had a Grand Am with a turbocharged engine from Brazil, mpg quickly falls prey to the feeling of the turbocharger kicking in. I am wondering how light the car is. Looks like a perfectly vicious little car.

I am wondering if these are the same cars Disney used in a stunt show they televised.

Really cool looking little car, Paul. I have seen a few of the Smarts around my area here and although they look extremely small in comparison to the tanks that regularly drive around I am hoping these smaller cars catch on fast. With our Gas prices going up by the week, I think these are going to be seeing alot more of our roads . . .
