Winter Interrupted :: Praying for Snow

We seem to be on this topic. So, I decided to post a little photo essay....

[Ahemm... In advance, let me apologize to those of you who are still experiencing a harsh winter elsewhere.]

This first shot is of a couple of sleds that have been hanging out on our front porch waiting for the next snow day. For those who don't know, it's been an unusually warm winter here in Oregon. Our clematis has just taken off as a result of this warm weather and is over-running the porch -- kind of looking snowy to me. Thus, I decided to "pose" the sleds for a shot...

Hot Chicks! Need a 15-400mm VRXmaxZOOM.x3 for this one...

How you like them bird shots OT?

Actually I'm telling a lie. This was shot with just the kit lens.

Also, I didn't shoot this picture. My 10yr old son ran in and grabbed my D70 and shot this himself (nice point-n-shoot, eh?). Got to record the new additions you know...

    Drinking in the sun

Thanks for viewing. Hopefully there will still be snow on the mountain for next weeks ski trip.

    Cheers!

    These are fun!

I like the wine glass and the one your son took. Good on him. I hope it was well supervised. ;) Thanx for sharing.

Nice pics. Thanks for sharing. Sorry about your warm weather up north. My best bud in Oregon is flying his family here to Northern California to do some skiing in Tahoe where we'll be sharing a cabin between our two families and hopefully get a lot of skiing done next week. He was down here a month ago to ski too. Guess the snow up there hasn't been too good so he came down here to get some skiing in.

Just when I think I have this bird picture thing down a 10 year old comes in and tops me. Nice post, thanks Tim.

    Back from the ski trip!

    Hi all,

Well... back from the ski trip... And it worked! We got fresh snow each day. Thank's for your assistance (if you were sending good snow vibes this way). Also, thanks for the comments....

Natalie & Scooter, I actually did do a series on the wine glasses. They are painted by a friend. I walked into the kitchen one morning when the glasses were on the sill, and I had to take a few pictures. I'll post them some later date.

I'll also let my son know that his skills are well regarded....

    Cheers,
    Tim
p.s. That's my daughter in the photo.

Re: Back from the ski trip!

Where did you go skiing? We're in Colorado right now ... had planned to go to Mt. Hood but aborted that trip mostly due to rumor that the snow was mostly gone.

Here in Vail country we've had lots of fresh powder all week.

Re: Back from the ski trip!

    Hey Kelly,

I lived in Colorado for 3 years and never did make it to Vail to ski. I did have lots of fun in the Front Range area though.

For this trip, we went to Mt. Bachelor near Bend, OR. It's just a 3 hour drive which makes a three day trip fun. Mt. Bachelor has a lot more snow than Mt. Hood does, but not a lot compared to what it typically has. But, I certainly didn't complain about coverage. I've skied Colorado with a lot less snow ...

    Cheers,
    Tim

Re: All These Shots Are Beautiful!

Thanks for the kind words Penny. My son took about 30 shots of the chicks (good to have digitial, eh?). It was hard to choose the "best" one.

Praying for the end of snow....

No fair! As I type, it's snowing in New York.
Thanks for showing me the HOPE of spring, though!
