    Whining Weenie Photographers! Steam Release!

Time to let off some steam! Hssssssss.....

I have been reading hundreds, literally hundreds, of silly complaints by idiot pixel-peepers, about the "horrible" level of noise in new cameras. This is due, I read, to a conspiracy among manufacturers to steer us to high priced, not even entry level, DSLRs.

Don't these people even have a clue about photography? It wasn't that long ago that we all used 400 and maybe even 800 ISO speed film that had horrible grain but it was rarely, if ever, mentioned. It was aassumed, higher ISO means more grain. The "horrible high ISO noise" these whiners are yapping about is hardly visible and, if you blow the images up to 100% on a computer screen, you can just barely see it. This is stuff that would never show up in any 11x14 or even larger print and and probably never on a computer screen.

There is even an entire cadre of whiners who complain that Canon's top-of-the-line DSLR is garbage over 400 ISO!

Obviously, these people don't reside here but they are pretty much every where else. What is wrong with these morons?

    Hssssssssss....That feels better.

Until ISO 32,000 has the grain of ISO 10 people are going to complain.

Of course, they'll then complain about something else. I've seen some prints off of my D2h at 1600 ISO and yea there is some grain there, but I thought they looked great

I have found there are only two groups who complain about Canon's noise levels
    1: Nikon owners
2: those who can't afford to buy one of those cameras they complain about

and it comes down to jealousy.....

Your car's gotta have more than 117 horsepower

I wish they would let us have <50ISO on canon cameras anymore. I remember my A510 had 50 ISO, then my A570 IS only has 80, and then my XTi has only down to 100??

slow shutter speeds are fun shutter speeds.

Mine has 3 cylinders, 699cc, 6 sparkplugs, one turbo, charge cooler and 80 bhp
So it does 130mph tops, cruises at 115mph and does 50mpg at 76mph

    Or 66mpg at 65mph (boring)

Or 30mpg flat out at the redline all day on the racetrack.

That's dragging around electric soft top, leather heated seats, air conditioning, all the things you expect in a car
    So a 0-60 of 9 and a bit seconds isn't bad.

    BTW: Smart Roadster Coupe
    Engine capacity 698 cc
Max. power 80 bhp (60 kW) at 5,250 rpm
Max. torque 110 Nm at 2,250-4,500 rpm
Kerb weight (without driver/load) 810 kg

    So ~103bhp/ton

Now for the nutters amongst you, try this:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDbFG6MlpjQ
    600bhp/ton

At Spa_Francorchamps an Ariel Atom lapped my car twice in a 45-minute session.
It's road legal and the nutter (sorry owner) drove it all the way from the UK, he didn't cop out and trailer it !

Wait till I put the FIA exhaust on it
    That's 5bhp more, they claim.

It's already got the K&N filter, claims +5 bhp, I got +4 (84 not the stock 80) on a rolling road test.

    http://s237.photobucket.com/albums/f...rrent=0-60.flv
First gearshift (and turbo twitter) at 30
    Second shift at 45
60mph is needle straight up at nine and a bit seconds, just before 3rd change.

Yes I know smart say it takes 13 seconds, but not my car it doesn't
    Paddle shift helps too

Oh, did I mention it has full electronic FBW throttle and gearshift ?
    Fancy forgetting that

Couldn't agree more. As soon as one of my friends saw that I was using a Nikon D70s, he replied in a sarcastic manner "Why don't you just pour sand on the sensor, it's what you'll get with the camera"

Yeah, he's a gadget whore, nothing more. Personally I don't notice the noise that much, plus I have PS plugins that work on reducing it.

The nice thing about shooting for a paper is you can't tell if there is noise in a photo or not due to the printing.... a photo from a high noise shot looks the same as a low noise shot

    SW, your car is awesome.

So is John's subbie, which I was referring to :P. My car is rated at 114 hp according to the manual, but that was nearly 20 years ago.
