    when to choose metering modes

I normally use the matrix metering on my d90, but I'm wondering what kind of situations would call for spot, or center weighted, and if maybe someone could clarify the difference too please.

Re: when to choose metering modes

For the most part on my D300 I use Matrix as well. However when I want to say, catch the mode of a dark hallway of a building, with a window at the one end, I'll set to center weighted, so that it gives that sinister look, with a point of light creeping down the hall way.

I hope more of you experts will opine here.
