I am going to take another shot.

Is it a closeup of the matting they use to stabilize hillside and ski slopes in wet weather
    or a sisal door mat?

    O.K. that was two guesses.

We have a winner!!!! Congrats to TexDot! That is the hair of the deer my dad shot during buck season. I was fascinated with it's coloring - so of course I took a picture of it! LOL I pretty much photographed the entire process of loading it in the truck, hanging it in the garage, gutting, skinning...the dog's reaction, my city boy husbands reaction...and pictures of Daddy posed w/ it. So, TexDot - your turn to stump us!

Well no wonder I didn't get it. Never been that up close and personal with a deer.

    Nice stump.

We've gone through deer archery, deer modern firearm, elk seasons and are now back to late buck season here.
