More shots from my road trip last month.

First shot - The trip starts at the gas station. The next time you think about those evil oil companies making "record" profits of nine cents a gallon, remember what the government takes - just because they can. No, I do not own oil stocks - Yes, I think it's outrageous. BTW, I live in NC!!!

Second shot - It's a pole, it's a tree, no, it's a cell tower. Someone's idea of going green. I thought it was cute.

Third shot - Abstract anyone? Taken at 65 mph, 200mm, 1/20 second at f16. Just to see what I would get. I'm proud of my timing.

Fourth shot - My buddy Brad. I went with him to Arkansas. It's always a good time when you're with a friend.

Fifth shot - I know what you're thinking. Arkansas? Why go to Arkansas? Because my friend was going to Arkansas. No offense intended to those who live in Arkansas. It actually reminds me of North Dakota. But I wouldn't take a road trip there just to go somewhere.

Long time since you've posted! Where at in Arkansas did you go? The terrain varies hugely from one area to another. The Ozark Mountains, in the North and Northwest offer great opportunities for beautiful scenic vistas. I hesitate to say mountain vistas since I've seen the Rockies and the Ozarks are more like big hills.

I'm looking forward to seeing more photos!

A little town named Blytheville. It is in the eastern part of the state, off of I 55. It is not too far from the Mississippi River, as the crow flies. It is mostly flat terrain, with farm fields all around, and you can see for "miles and miles". In that respect, it reminds me of North Dakota.

North Dakota also has mountains/big hills in the form of the Badlands. Again, in the western part of the state. And the Missouri River runs through North Dakota. I used to hunt at a place that the eastern border was the Missouri River. Lots of similarities between the two states.

I guess you're only limited by your imagination. What's next? We'll have camoflouged shingles so our houses will look like forest on Google Earth? Hehehe.

I'm not into abstract art or photography as a rule. But the leaves were starting to change, with patches of red and yellow here and there. So I decided to try something different. My first attempt at f 8 wasn't blurred enough, so I cranked the apeture up to f 16 and got this shot. It's something different for me, and I was mostly impressed with my timing. 200mm at 65 mph made it a challenge.

Brad and I have been friends for a long time. We met on our second day at college. That's over 26 years ago. We still like to get together with Rich (our other college buddy) once or twice a year and go on a camping/photography outing over a long weekend. It's really nice that we all share the same interests, even as we've grown older - none of us were into photography in college. Time spent with some of your best friends is always a good time. This trip was no exception.

Ah, that area has lots of crop dusters in the summer. That would be the only reason I could think of going there.

It was! A road trip usually is, especially when you're with a friend (or two).

BTW, I cropped the second one vertical to include the hawk in the background. I suspect it is a Red Tail, but I want Paul to verify that.

I didn't realize they sprayed even when crops weren't in. Or maybe they're winter crops. I admit to not knowing the area that well. I just know during the summer, it's hard to drive more than a 10-15 minutes down there without seeing several crop dusters.

Were these shot "on the move"? Cause if not, you know I'm going to mention the stopped props! I'm guessing that you shot them on the move with a very fast shutter speed, made possible by your fast lens that you've been bragging about. But necessary when shooting from a moving vehicle.

Paul, just curious, is that was a red tail hawk in that second shot?

And I'm with you. I was surprised to see crop dusters this late in the season, but this was the second one I saw.
