We had some wind blow in ...

We had some wind in the neighborhood yesterday. Fortunately, our house was spared. Got out today and shot some pics of the damages around (until it was suggested that I was interfearing with "official" traffic). Thought I'd share a few.

This is not a tornado or huricane, just "straight line" wind (100+ mph).

    Thanks for viewing. COmments appreciated.

I heard there was some weather down there including tornadoes but didn't know you'd get 100mph without it being a tornado. Glad your place is ok.

    Thanks Frog ...
Today they said that there was a tornado that went through. Straight line winds usually are found around a tornado and they confirmed on the news tonight that they were in the prox of 105 mph.

We had something like this about four years ago, wind speeds of just under 100mph. They called it a "Micro Burst" and it did a lot of damage. Looks like a big mess, but hopefully you'll get back to normal soon!

Also around 90-91 Beloit, WI got nailed with a micro burst. Micro bursts can create winds in excess of 160mph fwiw.

Wow! Now that's definitely too close to home.

Glad to hear your house is OK. Hopefully no one got injured in the neighborhood.

Another View: The mess is pretty much cleaned up. Now the start of reconstruction
I've never heard it referred to as a "Micro Burst". I like that term. Very appropriate.

RP: It IS quite something to experience.

Loupey: No one that I know of was injured in the storm. I expect that some of the folks had to do a quick wardrobe change afterwards tho

    Thanks all for your replys

Wow! That's some wind that blew through your neighborhood. It's really good that no one was hurt. Those cars don't look so good, though! Neither do the trees look good in places where they don't belong!

Thanks for sharing these interesting shots. I've never heard of a micro burst either. Interesting, but a bit scarry.
