    Wasatch Christmas Sunset

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I spent mine as I always try to - on the ski slopes. I didn't take any ski photos yesterday but we came home early and it looked like conditions were aligning for a spectacular sunset. Low clouds in west turned the sunset into a dud but I found a new location to shoot from and I still managed this nice composition just as the sun went down.

Does anyone else have Christmas photos to share? I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to see them - especially if they were taken with a new camera or other new photo gear

This sunset photo was taken with the Sony NEX-7 and Sony E-mount 18-200mm OSS lens, which I have on loan from Sony right now.

Next up - looking forward to a New Year's Eve ski tour like this one I did last year with Zerodog: 2011 Wrap-Up Sunset Ski Tour

    Happy Holidays, everyone!

    Re: Wasatch Christmas Sunset

Sweet shot John! I missed the nice sunset we had yesterday because we skied until last chair! Here's one with my new(ish) 18-135 sealed zoom. It really gives me more confidence having the camera out when the weather is a little harsh.
This is my wife and 9 year old son enjoying the Christmas pow at Monarch Mountain, Colorado.

Nice one, Matt! Your son certainly looks like he's enjoying himself Looks like you got the stormy powder day we had on Xmas Eve, when I was working. Yesterday it was bluebird here but it was already pretty tracked and a little chunky at Brighton when we got there so I wasn't really feeling it. Still - can't complain about skiing on Christmas. I can see you and I are on the same page about that

Thanks, Greg. I'll be back to that same spot on a better sunset night. I'm also going to do some research and see if I can time a moonrise with the sunset from this same location. The moonrise yesterday was at about 3 PM so it was already pretty high when the sun went down.

Not any skiing where I was, but I caught some of these guys out on Christmas day. The hat proves it!

John, I'm thinking tomorrow will be your best sun/moon timing. Maybe Friday, but I think Thursday.

It's supposed to be stormy here until Friday so I might have to wait a bit for optimal conditions.

I got a new point & shoot, Samsung WB150 with WiFi.
I'm going to send it back, the zoom lever keeps gets stuck.
Connecting to FB & Picasa isn't as slick as I'd like, interface is clunky.

Here, I'm walking around Asheville, admiring creative bodywork :-)

That certainly is an interesting rig, hollis. I bet there's an interesting owner to go with it. I'd love to see a portrait of the owner with the truck. Just a thought

Too bad about the camera. Please write a review for it. I'm really interested in more detail about what you like and don't like about the Wi-Fi connectivity. I've got an Eye-Fi card and I wonder if the functionality is similar.

    Yup, I thought of that.
I sat & drank a few beers waiting for the owner to show up.
Too bad I'm a light weight & after 2 beers, I was done!

Connecting the camera to your FB or Picassa account can be tedious.
It remembers your email, but you have to type your password each & every time. I magine an iPad keyboard, but the screen isn't Touch.
You have to use the camera's function button to toggle up, down, & sideways. So for me, its Caps ON...toggle...toggle...Caps Off...toggle...toggle.

Oh wow - that's beautiful, Armando! What is that structure? Is it a monument of some sort?
