I had a great deal of difficulty getting position for the last flower pic I recently posted in the critique forum so began to think about maybe I should bite the bullet and get one of those newfangled tripods.
I've read all the threads on tripods here and finally decided on a manfrotto 055 probx.
I guess it does have some advantages.
The Sears tripod was bought at a flea market for $18 in the mid 80s. It is a very sturdy tripod and has held up to years of abuse though I did finally wear the head out.
The manfrotto was 180 at Adorama.
low and high advantages without center column deployed except to sho horizontal use on manfrotto
Pardon the poor setting but its raining most of the time and I didn't have time to look for better. Anyone into weeding?
