Hello,

I would bring a lens something to the liking of a 28-105 lens from Nikon that has good contrast but is still very light and small. You want to have the most options without having to change lenses. You don't want to bring attention to yourself in the city (Buenos Aires/Mendoza/Cordoba/Rosario) by changing lenses.

As you mentioned, the dollar buys almost three pesos which makes it worthwhile to keep a lookout for American tourist. I've been there over five times and never had a problem, but I keep a low profile. I only bring out the expensive camera and lenses when I am shooting landscapes. http://www.lorencrannell.com/latin.html

If you go to La Boca or San Telmo you can easily do it in one day. If you need it I will be happy to answer any questions that you may have on Argentina.
