    Tribute

Not seen at Goodwood (former RAF Westhampnett) since WWII, eight spitfires in the air, with four on the ground over the weekend joining four flying in for the display
Part of the festival of speed, a gathering in tribute to Ray Hanna, first leader of the Red Arrows display team, owner and supremely respected display pilot of many WWII planes, founder of the Old Flying Machine company.

Nice job Paul. I really like the first image. These photos bring back memories of all those great old WWII movies that I watched as a kid and loved every minute of. Thanks for sharing.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Re: Tribute

    Update: Raymond Baxter died today.
He was due to interview some of the display pilots as part of the Ray Hanna tribute, but was not well enough on the Sunday of the Goodwood Revival. He had been commentating on the racing and the air displays up to the day before he was taken into hospital.

Wartime Spitfire pilot, radio broadcaster, airshow commentator, TV presenter (perhaps remembered most for "Tomorrow's World" on BBC), rally driver ... his list of accomplishments is fantastic.

Like Alistair Cooke, a man whose voice I will sadly miss.

The sound of the Merlin and Griffon engines was fantastic.
Particularly on the low passes where I completely failed to pan properly
