Then why do the steps go in different directions?
It does seem strange as it does not appear to be a new building so how has it lasted so long?

Are there angles on the front of the building such as it is not all square to the face or used to break up the smooth front as in little alcoves? Or has there been remodeling and expansion of the original??

The lintel sets of the windows center and left and the door look very intentional.

Historic building that requires such extremes?

Judging by the brick colour and repointing, this has suffered serious collapse.
Maybe it happened while replacing windows/doors?

Thanks for looking, guys. This building is from the "historic" section of our city. I suspect that the original section of the building was built in the 19th century. But it looks like it was renovated recently.

We parked in about this spot about 2 months ago when my wife took one glance and said "look at those crazy bricks!". Even with that, I didn't see what she was referring to until several moments later. Wanted to wait until some snow made it a little more interesting.
