    Grandpaw wrestles real live alligator

After seeing the Gator Boys in action I said to myself, "I can wrestle a live alligator". After talking to Paul and Jimmy from the Gator Boys on TV and getting some good pointers I gave it a go and it really isn't that tough. All you need is a little training and a lot of determination and I had both. Just one more thing I can mark off my bucket list! LOL Jeff

Footski, I tied it shut after a lengthy battle with this wild beast just like they do on TV. This is done for safety reasons so he can be moved easier.

Pete, that is rain water on my shirt which made the confrontation even more dangerous. Jeff

I see there are no glass on your face in the wrestling pic, but there are later.

Did they make you remove them for safety, or did they get flung from your face by the incredible forces of bringing down the reptile?

Wfooshee, yes my glasses were removed for safety reasons due to the sometimes fast and violent movement that occurs by the alligator during the wrestling. I was really surprised that I wasn't required to wear a helmet and padded clothing for my first attempt. My guess is that due to my size and muscular build they thought I would be able to handle it. There were a few very intense and exciting moments but in the end I DID PREVAIL over the beast!!! I would like to add that this should not be tried on your own without professional instruction, tips, and supervision like I had, it can be very dangerous. Jeff

Note: This is NOT for the faint at heart but if you are an adrenalin junkie it is something that you just might want to check out!!!

This is a GREAT fun thread, Jeff! Thanks for sharing......you got some great responses too. Wonderful shots, too. I love this last one especially. Of course, the one with the gator is good too, except he is so huge and tough that it's scarry to think about how challenging it was for you to capture him.

Re: Grandpaw wrestles real live alligator

Thanks everyone for joining in on the thread. I will have to say that we may have used the wrong lens or angle because it the picture the alligator looks somewhat smaller in the picture than I remember during all the excitment. It was a lot of fun watching the shows and talking with everyone. They are all very friendly and down to earth that are on the show. If you haven't ever watched Gator Boys on Animal Planet, give it a try, I think you will like it. Jeff
