    Takeoff "FAT ALBERT AIRLINES"

This series depicts the last time the USMC C130H "Fat Albert" will ever make a JATO (Jet Assisted Take Off). The rocket bottles used are very expensive, not reusable, and not in current production. All remaining bottles have been transfered to the Air Force Reserve Unit that flies into the South Polar Region, where JATO is a requirement.

Camera: Canon A1, Lens FD 300mm F4 L , Hand Held @ 1/250 @ F11, Fujifilm Superia 400, . Scanned from Film Prints with NO Post Precessing other than resizing.

Location: Sherman Field, Naval Air Station Pensacola, Pensacola, FL

Hey, Bill. Have you ever tried scanning the negatives? i used to scan my negs when i shot with film and then edit digitally.
I never had the lab make prints for me, just develop the negatives. I had the Nikon Coolscan which was real easy to use and performed excellent scans.

    Thanks Gary, and Tyson,

Yes I had just about given up on getting a medium format system to replace the one lost in the fire and in fact was going to buy a scanner. While waiting for the clerk I saw the Bronica, "at a price I could not refuse", and bought it instead. I am back in the saving mode now and when I get back from Brazil will probably get a scanner. It will have to be a little better scanner than I was going to buy as I now need the 35mm and 645 negative capabilities.

I know most of the members think I am nuts for hanging on to film, but I love it and hope to rebuild my darkroom and replace the equipment. But hey I did get a digital P&S (Canon A470), that has to count for something , and the wife made me get her a little better camera (Fujfilm Fine Pix S2000 HD), sort of between a P&S and a DSLR.

Not at all, Bill. I love the texture and grain and the overall aesthetic of film and still it has some of the best DR of anything going.
I just enjoy the benefits that digital capture give me, but I would still love to shoot with film if i had the time to endeavor with both.
