A hurricane came thru off the coast of NC Friday. It was my one day a week that both my kids were in school.. so I went down to Virginia Beach. Winds were 35-45 mph. There were a few sufers out.

If that was Noel, I'm rather glad it missed Florida and hopefully you.

    Re: Surf

Amber nice image...this just shows how crazy the weather can be on this continent. There's a tropical hurricane, or what's left of it, rolling up the eastern seaboard aiming at our Atlantic provinces and we woke up to about 5 cm of snow all over everything in the western prairies. Go figure!!

Nice - looks like a blast, although I hope that's the worst of a hurricane that you see!

Good shot. I think there are some states that would like to have got some of that rain.

    Re: Surf

Thanks you guys The hurricane never hit us. It just got a little windy for a day. Here are a few more shots.

This is the guy in the first picture up there

As he was headed into the water, he turned his back on it, said a little prayer, crossed himself and kissed some little charm.. then dove in.

He drifted way down to the other side of the beach. He said he only got one good rip before he was able to get out.

    Re: Surf

Love that first shot with the wall of water with the white crests coming over the top.

I would try a touch of levels and a touch more saturation looks a little pale and washed out on my monitor.

Glad to see you missed out on the full force of mother nature.

    Roger.

PS - I just realised the wind speeds are only F8-9 - I have sailed across the south coast of the UK in a 50ft boat in that weather.

Been out in a kayak in that stuff due to a fast moving storm that came out of nowhere. I don't know if "fun" would be the first word to describe that experience but it sure was memorable!

    Don't try this at home...

That must have been frightening. Brings a different meaning to white water.

On my trip 10 out of the 12 people on the boat were very sick. I had to do back to back watches.
