New lens - pictures from first "roll"

Just bought a Nikon 12-24 DX AF-S f/4G IF-ED lens. And when a lens has that many letters in it's designation, you know it's going to be expensive - and it better be good. I am very happy with the first run (these pictures from my latest business trip). The lens is designed specifically for smaller digital sensor in the Nikon DSLR's.

One word: HOT LENS. Okay, that was two words. Love, love that first picture. You got a winner here. Show us more!

Just one question...is that guy picking his nose?

I *love* the wide angle! I'm so envious...

Hey, I feel like I've stayed in that room before. Well, mine was flipped with the TV on the other wall. But where but where but where.....?? This is driving me nuts now. I've slept under that flower pattern comforter. I've walked on that green carpet. I've put my clothes in the blonde wood dresser drawers under the TV. I've thrown my coat over that square green chair, and I've closed those ugly orange striped draperies against the streetlights.. I've even looked for a stray sock under that striped bedskirt. But where but where but where... ???

Kelly - you might have been at the Hilton Garden Inn in St. Augustine, Florida. Or possibly one of a multitude of other hotel rooms that all look oh so similar...

never been at the one in St. Augustine, but I've been to the Garden Inn elsewhere. In fact, that's one of the chains I thought it was.

I do think that carpet is pretty standard for most hotel chains everywhere.

About your pictures... I love the second one. I just love that "cliff" of sand against the windswept sky. I love the birds in the first one. And the people on the beach.

Who are the people in the last picture?

Don't know...they were simply sitting across from me as we waited to board.

This is Florida? It looks more like Normandy..

I like the birds in formation, they echo the wooden debris just underneath. Interesting series. Landscape, available light, black and white, all done with a single, relatively compact camera and lens. If I'd had to do that with film it would have taken twice as much gear.

    Wow! Nice lens!

Wide angle lenses are so much fun; however, not always easy to get good results.

I love the first 2 pictures, especially the first one. Great composition. It would look great hanging on my living room wall across from our big picture window. ;)

I hope you're going to post some more images. Although I'm a Canon person, I have to say, this lens is worth it's weight in gold! And I'll bet it's heavy.
