Splurging while the economy's in the toliet?

SURE! Why not?! Well it is a mini splurge. I ordered a Nikkor 50mm (F/1.8) online, if only UPS was instantaneous :incazzato:. I figured with the great reviews and cost it couldn't hurt to go ahead and get it? I would have went to the stores and checked out the prices offered but since I'm on nights, I've become a complete vampire!

Can't wait for it to get here and take some photos to share!!!

Congrats on the new toy. I have been splurging a bit the last couple of weeks myself. I wish I could stop... I picked up Photoshop CS4 Extended & Lightroom 2 last week and I ordered a 1TB hard drive last night. (The software is pretty inexpensive with my wife's student discount.) I also ordered a LR2 book and a CS4 book to go along with my new software. I'm also considering picking up a 35mm film scanner, but I think that's going to have to wait for a while.

You will not regret your choice of the 50mm f1.8 lens. I procrastinated about getting one but once I did I loved it. Be sure and post some pics for us.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

The 50mm lens war was what got me to get one and I always recommend them now.
    Thankyou for helping the economy.

Congratulations! Yes, I agree with everyone else - it's a wonderful lens and there are a lot of great photos in the 50mm/f1.8 thread that shows what this lens is capable of!

Looking forward to seeing your photos.

That 50mm is a great lens, especially for the price. I picked mine up from the "used" cabinet at my local shop. It was engraved with the local newspaper's name and phone number and if you held it up to a light you could see it was full of dust. It was obviously heavily used, but it was still extremely sharp and I never had a problem with it.

    definitely money well spent!

I splurged as well....new computer and monitor, our old one was full of photos, and dh was tired of it taking up all his space. so now everything photography is on one computer, and everything not is on another. it's surprisingly nice.

Yep, splurging seems to be the order of the day, I splurged on a new hp notebook and Lightroom 2.

Hurray for splurging! I'm really excited about the purchase. Seriously, I should have gotten next day delivery service!

Adina, that's actually a super smart idea?? I might have to consider that in a few months!
