somewhere off the blue ridge parkway

we had an impromtu trip to North Carolina this past weekend, I took all of 4 photos.

While we were there, we went to the Greek festival in Asheville (we stay in Asheville when we are down there), and on the way back to the scenic route.

Can I just say, I hate mountains. Even if I close my eyes and turn my ipod way up, I can still feel the swerving sensation in my stomach. Ick.

We were just talking about Asheville the other day - haven't been there in several years but I do remember the Blue Ridge Parkway as being a highlight of the trip. It was foggy and had started to drizzle when I stopped, probably to get coffee. Walking out, just as most people would say something like "have a nice day", he said "be careful in the fog". It was the tone he said it that was scary - he was not kidding! Drive it and you'll see why...

oh please. I took this with a p&s, hanging my arm out the window, at 60mph.

Kidding. lucky break for me, as I totally suck at landscapes.

Steve, we head down there about once a year, sometimes more. dh has family down there. We've driven the blue ridge parkway before, but usually avoid it, as I hate the mountains with a burning passion.

adina, I'm sorry you feel the way you do about mountains. I take it you have never been in Colorado or Utah? I live on the flat lands of Western Canada and IMHO some of the most beautiful scenery in the world lies within a 1 to 2 hour drive to the west and beyond.

    Cheers,

Never been. I've flown over, on my way to California, and did once spend a lovely few hours in the Salt Lake City airport.

I like them from a distance. In theory. Up close and personal, not so much. Maybe if they weren't so high....

    Nice shot Adina!

Sorry you get carsick in the mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway is very sedate as mountain roads go. You should take some of the gravel roads we take when we visit the mountains. You'd never go back!
