    Some creative people out there...

One of my best friends is getting married in July and I was at her bridal shower on Saturday. One of her family members made her a mock wedding cake out of bright white bathroom towels. The present stole the show that day.

For those wondering about the shot, it was about 3 pm, slightly overcast sky. Underexposed the background by two or three stops, had the 550ex on a remote cable on high-speed sync (1/2000, ISO 100, f/4) manually zoomed to 105mm to focus the beam and get that sharp fall-off. Had my beautiful assistant (girlfriend) hold the flash while I took the photo.

    Seb -

whoa! Nice work there guy! It's so creepy and forboding the image you've captured there with the darkened sky, the sharp fall off, and of course the very hard shadows.

Miss Haversham's cake? Your beautifull assistant did some great work and here you are taking credit for it.
Seriously, good work in seeing this. Great sky.

that is so cool! what a great idea! and the shot is great, yes.... kind of omen-ey, though.

the cruise i went on this past january was on carnival, and one of their gimmicks is making animals out of the towels and putting it on your bed. there actually is a whole book out there of creatures and objects that you can make with towels.

And here I thought that animals made out of rubber balloons were the pinnacle of creative expression, only to find out there are entire books dedicated to the art of towel animals. It's disheartening to know how much this cruel world hides from you.

That's such a serious looking photo of a non-serious subject. Great work. It left me with few emotions going on inside. It's like I don't know if I'm supposed to be humored or afraid, either way I'm entertained.

I also feel the title "some creative people" refers as much to yourself for the inspiration to create that photo is well as it refers to the creators of that gift.

Are you going to share a print of that gift with the newly-weds and/or the givers of that gift? I think someone would appreciate it...

Indeed there are! And your photo has creativity written all over it as well.

It does make one wonder how you view marriage though...
