some b&w conversions from Big Trees Park

I'm bored with color. Thought I'd try some black and white for a change of pace. Shot Saturday at Big Trees Park.

I LOVE THE LAST ONE.... but think it may be a bit dark?

the first dogwood image is quite appealing too

Just a little dark and contrasty. I'll get to work on it.

I think you're right. I shot in RAW mode, so I'll go back and play with it a bit.

I agree with Paul. Nice shots, definitely different. RAW is nice. So much flexiblility to "correct" things you don't like. Please post the lighter version of the last one.

    Nice job.......

Nice job on the conversions. Still love b&w. Something about your first love that you never get over.

    re-edit of last image

Went back and did some layering and masking, and not a little bit of dodging and burning. The sky washed out at +2 stops, so I layered the sky at -2 stops over the foreground details at +2 stops, sandwiched the layers, and adjusted black saturation in the whites, neutrals, and black in selective color mode, and converted to b&w by desaturating. Whew!!!
