    Sold a Photo/PR People Rock

We finally had the "artist reception" Saturday. For those that may not know, my work is being shown on Long Island - my BF's massage therapist opened a new location, and there is a long wall that she decided to use as a gallery area to feature local artists. so my work is up all summer alongside her niece's who's in high school. [....]

And I sold a photo. Woot! The owner's father loved one of my El Morro photos and bought it.

And PR people rock because Gerry Widen showed up for the reception! How's that for support?!?!?

What a great thing and feeling that must feel like. I wish you more success in the future, post a copy of the picture you sold, so others can see which one it was if you would.

PR people do rock don't they, that should be the new slogan for a T-Shirt (John you listening boy).;)

I have a PR t-shirt, John was kind enough to send me one of the last ones he had about 18 months ago, still wear it, even have it on at present.

    Talking Congratulations Megan!

That's incredible - sold one already. Please let me know how long your photos will be on display. I want to get there if I possibly can. Also if I can make it - I will be asking for explicit directions as I've been known to get "lost" in the subway system.

I hope you will post the image that you sold.

Congrats Megan, it's cool that Gary showed up, I would love to meet him in person.

    Take care.

    Up until Labor Day weekend

    Thanks Liz!
The show is up until Labor Day weekend. That's the first weekend in September, the end parenthesis to summer, to the non-US'ers.

Unfortunately, you can't really get there by subway. I will ask Reg about other forms of public transport - there's probably a bus if you're that determined! It's out near Garden City/Mineola. I know LIRR goes to Mineola, but then you still have to get to Carle Place from the train.

The address is on my site:

    Great news Meg!
Nice of Gerry to show up. I wish I were close enough since I'd like to see your work in print form. Are you going to get to Gerry's upcoming show?

    Excellent

Congratulations, Megan! I hope you sell several more during the exhibition. And how neat that Gerry Widen stopped in.

Congratulations your work was really good.I'm very happy for you. I hadn't realized how many different places you've traveled to.

Funny we were talking about how few pieces of photography get sold. And dang you sold one. I've yet to sell my first one. After you emailed me about the show I was looking forward to seeing your again and your work. Since I'm only a few minutes away I couldn't miss it. It was also nice meeting Reggie.

BTW Liz, the Carle Place train station of the Long Island RR is only a few blocks from the gallery. The train doesn't stop at that station as frequently as some of the other stops but it is right there only about 40 minutes straight from Manhattan. Again congrats.

That's very cool, Meagan. Congrats! The sale of my first photo is still pending, although he is certain he wants an 11 x 14 print, so I can understand your exitement. I hope you get to sell more of your work!

Thanks everyone! [Down with The Man!]

Thanks for all the congrats and encouragement.

This is a .jpg of the image sold. I think it's been jpg'ed a couple times so it might have some junk, but I couldn't find the original psd last night. Grr....

The print is 7.5x7.5", semi-glossy fiber-based, window matted [white] in silver 11x14 frame.

    Talking Love it

This is a great image, Megan. Great composition and contrast. Very very nice. The person who bought it has good taste!

I hope I can get to your display. Right now it's a 50-50 chance with my schedule. I haven't been out to shoot lately.......when I decided to just take some time, it decided to rain. When I changed my schedule to do some work in the office, it stopped raining.

BTW - what is an "El Morro" (forgot the spelling sorry) photo? What equipment did you use

    Have a great day.

    An El Morro Photo

Sorry, the photo is of El Morro. Don't know what I typed, but I had to come to work early today....

El Morro is the old crumbling fort in San Juan used to protect PR from invaders.

For the image, I used my usual - a Holga, Tri-X, pushed in development.
