    Is it shady..

To order, buy something with the intention of returning it.
I am referring to a thread in the help files where photophosphorus is contemplating buying a medium format camera, but he's not sure what syestem he wants.
He's considering Mamiya RB-RZ 67, Pentax 67. I buy a lot of gear from KEH and their return policy is 14 days from ship date, in the same condition.
I'm thinking he could buy it, try it and return it, and be out no more than return shipping.
    Any opinions?
    Mark.

I agree. The more ethical way to try out gear is to rent it first...

I've always thought that the reason for mailorder places having that money back policy was for that purpose - to give the customer the opportunity to handle the gear and determine whether it was right for them, much like you can handle the gear in a brick and morter shop. I think that is more ethical than doing your tryout in a brick and morter shop, using their salespersons time and then buying the gear online (although I've been unethical enough to do just that).
As Steve mentioned, a rental would be a good way to go too.
