    Second Try

So, I knew a little more what I was doing this time (my second time out), but it's still crazy shooting after it gets dark. The lighting at this stadium is horrid.

Nice job. Did you end up spot or certer weight on the metering? Which lens? A 300/2.8 is currently out of budget so I have to make do with my 80-200/2.8 and a 1.4X that I found in my bag of tricks.

Lighting may have been bad, but your images are great. Love the way you suck every drop of color out of a photograph. Your pics are sharp and very well cropped. Your signature frame always give your work a little extra ump. Well done, keep them coming.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Re: Second Try

Thanks all - I can't afford a 300/2.8 either, so I shoot with a Sigma 70-200 2.8 and wait for the action to get close, which requires too much patience sometimes. These were all taken around dusk, so there was still a little natural light left. I also used a 550ex set to 1/8 power as fill to give a little lift to the faces. I metered in evaluative mode.

Brian - I love that first one too. When I saw it happening I was like - what a cool photo that could be. I'm glad it turned out the way it did, they were pretty far away at that moment and I was set up for the run the banner on the other side of me. I had to adapt quickly to get it.

I like the last shot the best for obvious reasons. Great color in all the shots. The one to me that sticks out the most is the first one of the team way to go.
