It Rained In North Carolina On The 4th

But I was out there anyway! Got rain on the lenses, which ruined a couple of otherwise decent shots. But I was shooting.

They also re-arranged the setup this year. They placed the fireworks where we usually sat. So much for my standard setup. But since we were early, we found a spot, nice and close - TOO CLOSE! I shot with my 28-70mm @ 28mm. And it wasn't wide enough for some of the shots!

The first shot is of the cannons. Those boxes on the road and on the left side of the road contain the cannons.

Next couple of shots show that 28mm wasn't wide enough. (Seb would have loved to have been there with a wide angle, I'm sure.) The third shot shows the raindrops on the lens as well.

One thing about it, there's always next year!

A Few More From The 4th

First shot is the start of the fireworks. They started off with some Roman Candles, then moved on to the high altitude stuff.

They fired the fireworks off faster this year. I'm not sure if that was planned to make it more interesting/exciting, or if the rain motivated them. Either way, the sky wasn't dark long during the show. (There were two lulls during the show)

The second shot is a multiple burst, with an earlier burst behind them. The third shot is also a multiple burst, but is relatively clean. The streaks at the top are from a previous burst. The fourth shot is another multiple burst, with smoke and wind providing some interesting effects.
