Pushed my first roll of film!

I just picked up my first ever roll of pushed film today! I went out Thursday night after
the big storm that dropped 21 or 22 tornadoes on our state had passed, to take some shots of the clouds left behind. I took my new Elan 7N, and a roll of Velvia 50 with me. I set the ISO on the camera to 200, and ran through the roll of film. The colors in the clouds
were brilliant as the sun was setting. Pushing the film, took away a bit of the saturation,
but I like the look I got from it.

I don’t have a scanner, so I put the slides on my light box, and took some picks with the
DRebel so I could share them with you. The specs in the clouds are from the dirty light
    box.

Yup. Looks like classic pushing of Velvia. Still lots of color, but very contrasty. I used to push film when I still had a film camera and developed my own slides, but I don't think I ever pushed Velvia to EI200 -at least I don't remember pushing Velvia that far, I usually packed Provia 100F, better suited for pushing, which I've pushed successfully to EI800-a little grainy, lacking in saturation, but acceptable, less contrast buildup than other films I've pushed. It's fun to be able to push process and pull process (I don't recommend this however-really flat looking images). Do you develop yourself, or do you send to a custom lab?

Never tried it at 200, but did at 80 and 100 (one stop push, depends on how you meter it). I agree with Lionheart; the contrast goes up quickly. It helps on an overcast day, actually.

Provia 100F exposed at 320 and pushed two stops works really well, but it is slightly grainier. Ever try the 400? Unbelieveable.

Lionheart, I take my slides to a local lab, but he doesn't do any E-6 processing. He has another lab he sends it to. I saw the invoice for the lab today when I picked up my film, but I forgot the name of it... I was going to look them up on the net tonight to see if I could send it right to them, and cut out the middle man. The closest E-6 lab to me is about an hour drive.

Steve, I haven't tried the Provia 400 yet. I was going to pick up a roll the last time I was in Madison, but they wanted $14 for it. I knew it was expensive, but I didn't think it was THAT expensive. My next order from B&H will have a roll or two on it tho.

Wow Michael, nice stuff...I'm glad you got out there and got those. I was a little busy with my new grandson, so I didn't get a chance to get out and do any shooting. Oh well...I'm sure there will be another beautiful sky soon...hehe...possible storms again tomorrow night...hehe...

Well that is definitely better than what I got with my dumb laptop method. Nice going!
