The pump hurting anyone else??

The gas prices are just horrible in California right now. I drive by this Chevron everyday on my way to the base and I just giggle. It's almost an ironic picture? Just thought others might have some pictures of people at the pump this summer, traveling season?? This was taken a month ago and prices have gone up since!! :mad2:

Once I got to work, there was a fire off base at an industrial plant! Made the sky look very neat.

The pump isn't hurting me financially, yet. It has changed my photography habits. I have cut back on my driving, and changed what I drive. I no longer jump in my truck and go for a ride around the back roads looking for photo opportunities. I only use my truck when I need to haul something or to take the dogs to the lake after work. The lake is only a couple miles from home so it's not a big deal. If there were a sidewalk, or even a decent shoulder on the road, I would probably walk there. I ride my motorcycle to work all week, unless there is something large I need to take with me and can't get it on the bike. I can fill my bike up for $20, and that will last me 2 weeks if I only go to work and back. I can remember when I first got my truck. The only way I could have spent $20 on gas was if I spilled a couple gallons on the ground. Now it takes that much to fill my motorcycle!

The price of gas has really caused me to save money. By taking the motorcycle to work, I save a ton of money on gas, and since I don't have any room to carry stuff home, I don't stop at the store after work. It was not uncommon for me to just run to the store quick after work to pick something up. Sometimes it seemed like I had to stop at the store 3 or 4 times a week for little things like a loaf of bread, a gallon of milk... Nothing major, but it all adds up.

I decided that rising fuel costs $ 5.00 / gaL would not hold me back in any way.The pump has forced me to ride my motorcycle (45mpg). 95 % of the time it's first choice.
I get out more, spend less time in traffic, take more pictures and,I'm never late anymore...ever! A co worker recently commented " you always smile" I replied...It could be the new bike...I Ride a Buell that has 105 ft/lbs. of torque.It's a Motorcycle thing... she understood after the ride around the block... :O)You may not understand, then again..you might. :O)

Not really.... It does hurt to see a $70 bill though every week or so. It's even worse when you have to buy premium fuel (darn turbos...) because then your prices really skyrocket. I just don't eat out as much (which reduces the chances of me getting out of shape).

It's hurting UK prices are over $10 per gallon.
Even driving economically with a 700cc engine, I'm paying $160 a week just going to work and back.

Oh my goodness!! 10 a gallon?! I suppose I shouldn't complain?! Work is too far for me to walk to, but I know a lot of people are purchasing motorcycles and bikes. I think the more popular choice lately are those little scooters? I'm so snapping some pictures of those when I get the chance.

I guess I know now why most Europeans drive the cute little cars and not the big diesel trucks!

It has hurt me some. I feel guilty even going out shooting any more. I think I am going to buy a bicycle and throw the backpack on and try it that way for awhile. I am just not sure if that will work in the winter. I drive a Durango and at 6'3" I really don't see driving a small car. My wife has a Toyota Matrix ,32mpg, and it is just to small for me.

It is just over $7.00US for a US gal/3.785Lts here in SE Oz.

Even beer prices are getting to be rediculous here, so I have made the sacrifice ... and cut back on the driving.

I guess I can't say it has really affected me to much personally, but it really vexes me. It bugsssssssss me to no end seeing these ridiculous gas prices.. I guess it does affect me, but in a different way....No I take it back. Our ups bill, fed ex bill and food bills have went up because of fuel. So yes it does affect me...

Yeah it's hurting here also, I do enjoy riding my motorcycle to work almost everyday, but I work for an Airline and layoffs are planned, so it may really hurt soon, only time will tell.

The gas prices have changed a lot of what I do, no more day trips to various places just to shoot photos, now its basically a planned mini vacation if I try to do it and I can never justify that :nonod: I'm trying to find ways to get creative and inventive though without getting bored.

I find myself thinking about trips on my off time now I love to drive but it just annoys me more than anything else to make the oil companies richer than they already are
:mad2: Other than costing more per fill up it hasn't really affecting me too much but then again I am only driving 200-250 miles per week. Some of my co-workers commute 110 miles round trip a day and I know it's tough for them. The price increase of diesel has affected every one of us. The price of anything shipped by train or truck has gone up as they are both powered by diesel. Here in the Bay Area most stations are selling diesel for well over $5 per gallon and the highest I've seen is $5.25

On a recent to trip to Bodega Bay for our 3yr anniversary I needed to fill up on the way home and there is this gas station in Petaluma that I go to in a pinch as I can trust their fuels quality. After I filled up I noticed that paid $4.79 per gallon for premium when the price listed on the sign was $4.85

Saint John NB Canada is 138.5/L for regular unleaded
its horrible. my honda civic used to be 35$ to fill it and now its 50$
i guess 50$ is better then some people paying over 100$ to fill their tanks lol

Yeah I put $50 in my Evo on the way to work and it didn't quite fill it up. Someone I know had to use a 2008 Ford F-250 for work and at the end of a single 12hr shift it used $111 of gas The trip computer says the average is 9mpg!

Having seen the prices rise rapidly, to over $7US a gal in my neck of the woods ... I realize now that I was extremely wasteful in the past and viewed fuel too casually. I kind of like my new-found forced austerity.

There is one plus about driving out of working hours and keeping out of the cities, the roads here are almost traffic free. Many motorists have just backed off driving. It is very evident on weekends.

Today I'm going to a place called Nanima. I'll drive a couple of hundred k's on dirt tracks, exploring and looking at small farming communities. If I see another car today it will just be a farmer. Definately not tourists or recreational travellers wandering slowly ... just farmers.

The highways here are where all the traffic is now ... the backroads are a surrealistic, traffic free, delight.

I hope in all this hardship, you might find the same, something positive.

yeah fuel sucks, but i guess we have no choice but to either suck it up or walk.

The prices are killing us. We have 4 drivers and 5 cars in our family. Four of the cars are 8 cylinders and one is 6 cylinder. I hardly go anywhere any more.

We are hoping to trade my husband's truck in, but he's so tall he has a hard time fitting in any of the economy cars. We are going to start looking though to see what our options are.

I have to fix the old Pougeut 504, Daughters have remodeled the front end twice ;-) It is still drivable and I have all the parts to fix it. (first time lead foot daughter hydroplaned at 60-70 into a concrete wall no one was hurt but for the car. Second daughter lost the front wheel and the wheel was never recovered! )

But it gets about 35 to 40 miles per gallon even lead footing in town!

They're saying that this fourth of July there will be less people traveling. It's sad, but I guess Americans are used to not having to conserve. I've talked to a few friends who go boating or dirt bike racing-they just suck it up and pay at the pump because they aren't willing to cut out the good stuff. *Sigh* I need a raise...
